Canada Express Entry

Express Entry

Express Entry is an online application management system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage and process applications received through three of Canada’s federal economic immigration programs for skilled workers.

Canada Express Entry is an immigration system implemented by the Government of Canada to manage the applications for permanent residence under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). It is a points-based system that allows skilled workers to apply for permanent residence based on their qualifications, work experience, language proficiency, and other factors. Here are some key points about Canada Express Entry which has to be kept in mind:

Eligibility:

To be eligible for Canada Express Entry, you must meet the requirements of one of the three federal immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Canadian Experience Class. Each program has specific criteria related to education, work experience, language proficiency, and other factors.

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS):

Express Entry candidates are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System, which assigns points based on various factors such as age, education, language proficiency, work experience, and adaptability. The highest-ranking candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence through regular draws from the Express Entry pool.

Express Entry Pool:

Interested individuals create an online profile in the Express Entry system, providing detailed information about their qualifications and personal details. Once the profile is submitted, candidates are placed in a pool of applicants and assigned a CRS score based on the information provided.

Invitation to Apply (ITA):

Candidates with high CRS scores receive Invitations to Apply (ITAs) during regular draws conducted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). ITAs allow candidates to submit a formal application for permanent residence within a specified timeframe.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs):

Express Entry candidates can also enhance their CRS scores by obtaining a provincial nomination through a Provincial Nominee Program. Provincial nominations can provide additional points and increase the chances of receiving an ITA.

Application Process:

Once an ITA is received, candidates must submit a complete application for permanent residence within the given timeframe. This includes providing supporting documents, such as education credentials, language test results, and proof of work experience.

Processing Time:

The processing time for Express Entry applications can vary. Generally, IRCC aims to process complete applications within six months from the date of submission.

Express Entry Process

  • Step 1 – Find Your National Occupational Classification (NOC)
  • Step 2 – Get Your Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
  • Step 3 – Take Your English And/or French Language Test
  • Step 4 – Select the Immigration Program And Determine Eligibility
  • Step 5 – Create an Express Entry Profile
  • Step 6 – Receive An Invitation To Apply (ITA)
  • Step 7 – Submit The Documents As Per Document Checklist
  • Step 8 – Acknowledgement of Application To Passport Request
  • Step 9 – Approval And Preparation For Canada

Regular draws will be taken from the pool and Candidates appearing higher in the ranking in the pool will be selected. While those having confirmed job offers will appear higher in ranking and hence may be first to be amongst those selected under the Canada FSW express entry program, it is not just that a candidate has a confirmed job offer from a Canadian Employer to be eligible to get an invitation to apply for PR visa.
