2. Residence class categories:
The following business immigration categories are part of residence instructions:
A work visa under the Long Term Business Category will entitle you to move to New Zealand, buy or establish your own business. This would be the first step on your pathway to applying for residence in New Zealand under one of the Entrepreneur categories.
Once your Long Term Business application is approved, you will initially be given a nine- month work visa, enabling you to buy or establish your business in New Zealand. Within that nine months, or as soon as you have taken steps to establish your business, you can apply for a further work visa for the balance of three years.
In New Zealand, there isn’t a specific visa category called “long-term business visa.” However, if you are looking for a visa that allows you to establish and operate a business in New Zealand for an extended period, the Entrepreneur Work Visa and its subsequent Entrepreneur Residence Visa can provide a pathway for long-term business activities. Here are the key details:
To be eligible for this visa, you need to demonstrate business experience, have a sound business plan, and sufficient funds to invest in and successfully operate the business.
You begin by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) expressing your interest in applying for the Entrepreneur Work Visa. If selected, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to complete and submit the visa application.
You are required to submit a comprehensive business plan outlining the proposed business venture and demonstrate that you have access to sufficient funds to invest in and operate the business successfully.
The initial Entrepreneur Work Visa is granted for up to 12 months, allowing you to establish and operate your business in New Zealand.
After successfully operating your business in New Zealand for at least two years, you may be eligible to apply for an Entrepreneur Residence Visa.
You must provide evidence of your business growth, job creation, and benefit to New Zealand’s economy.
You must meet character and health requirements, have a good command of the English language, and demonstrate your genuine commitment to New Zealand.
The Entrepreneur Residence Visa grants you permanent residence in New Zealand. After meeting certain criteria, you may become eligible to apply for New Zealand citizenship.
Applicants in the Entrepreneur Category are required to demonstrate that they have successfully established a business in New Zealand while holding a permit granted.
